SECURITY GUARD SKILLS TRAINING

Stonewall Citizens' Patrol (SCP) is a 100% volunteer organization geared toward safety and crime prevention through education, raising awareness, and patrolling the streets of the diverse neighborhoods of Hillcrest, North Park, and University Heights. The Patrol was started in 2006 after brutal attacks occurred outside the Gay Pride festival at Balboa Park. Since then, SCP has been patrolling the streets and assisting the community on the weekends. We strive to assist the San Diego Police Department as extra sets of eyes and ears on the streets. We receive training from the Police Department, and also have a seat on the LGBT Chief's Advisory Board.

SCP is recognized as a non-profit security organization by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services and, as such, is authorized to provide "Guard Card" training (Powers of Arrest and Weapons of Mass Destruction), as well as other mandatory and elective skills training for security guards.

We do not charge a fee for training (Live Scan and State Fees are not covered by SCP). We do ask for a commitment to volunteer with our organization (3 hours per month) for at least one year, and to provide security services (on a VOLUNTEER basis) to the community, as needed, in exchange for training. The organization also accepts voluntary donations (we are a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law - no individual receives any money from donations made to the Patrol).

Classes may also be used for continuing education (the 8 hours of annual training required for security guards).

Anyone interested in training and volunteering with our organization should email us at info@stonewallcitizens.org.
